Party Time!

It has been quite a while since I have published a pattern, so I am so happy to introduce Party Streamer! You can purchase it here.

I am rather smitten with the quilt and with how to photos turned out. I have been hoping to shoot in this spot for a while, but I wasn't sure if it was allowed or considered trespassing. Yesterday morning, I got up the guts and we dashed out there, probably looking rather sketchy. It was worth it!

I had a lot of fun quilting this quilt because I really felt inspired to step outside the box. I chose to only quilt the negative space and use a design to echo the shape created with the color. What do you think?

And of course, none of these pictures would ever be possible without the best helper ever. I confess, I often orient the quilt the wrong way, or the sun is interfering, or a myriad of other things. The photos that Adham stages always turn out significantly better than mine. I am so grateful for his help, even though it is not his favorite task.

As always, than you for supporting CityStitches! We couldn't do it without you!

Follow the Leader

Warm weather brings quite a bit of outdoor work at my job. We are outside all year round, but they schedule a substantial portion of that for the summer months. That means up at 5, out the door by 6, and working by 7. Sometimes until as late as 7. So I am rather tired. That is why this post is so delayed.

If you are part of the Quick-Sew Baby Quilt Club, you should have already received Follow the Leader! Inspired by a quilt my mom made, it is the second in the Quick-Sew Baby series.

I love how the gradient moves through the pattern of the triangles in this quilt!

I also am in quite a pickle because somehow the charger for my good camera broke. I have had to resort to using my iphone! Ugh. Hopefully I will be able to replace it soon.

Quick-Sew Baby Quilt Club

I am so excited to announce the Quick-Sew Baby Quilt Club! I have been working hard to get everything ready for the past couple months, and the day is finally here!

What is it?
The Quick-Sew Baby Quilt Club is a series of 6 patterns delivered to you monthly via email that are tailored to be easy baby quilts that you can whip out in an afternoon. I have so many friends having babies that I just don't have time to make each one a time consuming quilt. I needed a solution, so I found myself designing these quick-sew quilts. By being quick-sew, they don't lose any of the beauty of a modern handmade quilt, the piecing and layout is just designed to be speedy.

Pricing?
Early sign up pricing from June 1- June 8 will be a one time price of $20.00. If you sign up after June 8, it will be a one time price of $25.00 (for 6 patterns!)

When Does it Start?
Patterns will be delivered on the 15th of each month, with the first one arriving on June 15.

What if I sign up After June 15?
If you sign up in late June, July, August, or even December, you will have any pattern that has already been released delivered to you on the day of sign up. Any patterns that have not been released will be sent on the 15th of each coming month.

Time Commitment?
No! :) This is not a club where you must sew-along. You are absolutely welcome to sew each quilt as they come out and share with us, but it is not a have to. This club is designed to provide you with patterns in your arsenal that allow you to whip out beautiful, handmade items without such a lofty time commitment whenever a need arises.

Stacking Color

Stacking Color (also known as the Pelvis Quilt) is now available on Craftsy!

Thank you for being patient with me. I finished it last week, and my work computer DIED the night before I wanted to publish it. I woke up, no working computer, no file. NO FILE. O. M. G. Long story short, my amazing tech-y sewing friends were able to recover it using a PDF draft that I found. Thank you friends!!!!!!

Mixed Migration

So I finally got up the guts to publish Mixed Migration. I have been sitting on it for a while and I'm not sure why I couldn't get around to publishing it.

This quilt is an amazing scrap buster. I made it completely from my scrap bins, and I have to say, it paid off. Those bins are looking much better. I backed it with some lovely Juliana Horner.

If you would like a copy of Mixed Migration, it is available on Craftsy. Thanks everyone for the support!

I've Been Designing

I have always wanted to write patterns but have never been able to get up the balls to do so. Finally, after a lot of talk with a good sewing friend, I am going to take the plunge. This quilt (named Hemispheres courtesy of Rachel!) is going to be my first.

Everyone on Instagram has been so supportive so I am actually excited, but incredibly nervous. Anyone want to offer up some pattern writing tips? Or things that you love or hate to see in patterns? I will try to have other fun things to talk about while I venture through this, but if I am quiet, you'll know why.

News from my non-sewing world. I have recently signed up to start taking Pure Barre classes. My sister takes them and says that they are truly amazing. Unlike any other kind of workout. I feel like it will probably kick my ass. It is worth it though, as bathing suit season is right around the corner. I miss my muscle definition. Haha. It is going to rain here all weekend so it is time to do some sewing 'work'. :)
