AMH Economy Block Quilt

For those who may not know, I have a small (large) obsession with Anna Maria Horner. I have a full fat quarter set of every collection from Good Folks forward. She basically can do no wrong. However, my collection just sits on its pedestal (entire shelf) and stares at me. I can't cut it because I can't restock it.

At the beginning of this year when the #economyblockalong started, I got brave. And this happened.

O my goodness. It is amazing. Here's how it came to be.

 

I took all the AMH off it's special shelf, threw it on the floor, and separated it into colors. Then I stared at it for days thinking "I cannot cut this. I just can't".

Then I did, and I hated it. I got the red and orange up on the wall and decided that this was not working. My IG friends convinced me to keep it going. 

Once I got the yellow up, I was a little more sold.

And by the time the green started, I knew something magical was happening. 

This is basically the ultimate tribute to Anna Maria Horner. Now it is time to have it quilted. I think I am going to get mom to do it because it it huge. 80x80. The only other quilt that size that I have pushed through my machine is the Single Girl, and it was no picnic. Hopefully more pictures soon!

Stacking Color

Stacking Color (also known as the Pelvis Quilt) is now available on Craftsy!

Thank you for being patient with me. I finished it last week, and my work computer DIED the night before I wanted to publish it. I woke up, no working computer, no file. NO FILE. O. M. G. Long story short, my amazing tech-y sewing friends were able to recover it using a PDF draft that I found. Thank you friends!!!!!!

Dad's Pelvis Quilt

Weird name, right? I made this quilt last May after my Dad fell at work and fractured his pelvis. I only JUST got it finished.

 
Finishing a quilt is not my strong suit, needless to say. I get soooo close, and then just can't.

Anyway, the Pelvis Quilt is made entirely of Denyse Schmidt fabrics. I never knew how well her lines played together or how many man colors were in there! My mom did the straight line quilting on her long arm, and I love the staggered spacing.

My Dad is happy to have it home, and I am happy that he likes it. Hooray for actually finishing something!

Mixed Migration

So I finally got up the guts to publish Mixed Migration. I have been sitting on it for a while and I'm not sure why I couldn't get around to publishing it.

This quilt is an amazing scrap buster. I made it completely from my scrap bins, and I have to say, it paid off. Those bins are looking much better. I backed it with some lovely Juliana Horner.

Around the Color Wheel {Neutral}

This is by far my favorite Color Wheel bundle so far. All neutrals and sooooo amazing for putting solids in with your low volume prints. I am a Snow advocate, but I absolutely fell in love with Mushroom and Parchment when I saw them. Just amazing.

2014 Adventures

Apparently do not include sewing. The last 6 weeks just flew by. My parents took me, my siblings, and our significant others to Disney for 5 days near the end of January. So. Much. Fun. Advice for all families, wait until your kids are grown to go to Disney. It is much more fun when everyone is over the age of 20. We had been before as kids, but this was soooooo fun.

 

Anyway, I had to work a ton before we left, then we were gone (7 days with travel), and then when we got back, the snowpocalypse arrived. We got our first and only 'snow'. I will have to admit, there was a lot of ice. They had to close down the bridges because icicles were falling onto people's cars. It was ridiculous.

And then! I got the Flu. Apparently my definition of the flu and the true flu aren't the same thing. This was the stomach virus, the can't leave the bathroom floor for 48 hours virus, the I haven't eaten in 6 days virus. I cannot remember being that sick. The last time was so long ago that I was still allowed to get in my parents bed on a sick day. (apparently that was our quarantine. Seems weird now that they would put sick children where they needed to sleep.) Anyhoo. I just recently got better and have been working on my AMH Rainbow Quilt. If you follow me on Instagram, you have seen it in all of it's glory. Not going to lie. It is pretty cool.

Now I must get back to sewing so that I have something interesting to talk about!
