Dad's Pelvis Quilt

Weird name, right? I made this quilt last May after my Dad fell at work and fractured his pelvis. I only JUST got it finished.

Finishing a quilt is not my strong suit, needless to say. I get soooo close, and then just can't.

Anyway, the Pelvis Quilt is made entirely of Denyse Schmidt fabrics. I never knew how well her lines played together or how many man colors were in there! My mom did the straight line quilting on her long arm, and I love the staggered spacing.

My Dad is happy to have it home, and I am happy that he likes it. Hooray for actually finishing something!

  2. This is really a great looking quilt. I'm a big DS fan and her fabric lines all play well together.

  6. I hope your dad is okay! I agree that all her collections go so well together. I think I've bought almost all of the fabrics available at Joanns and keep two huge drawers dedicated to her fabric in my sewing room. In fact, I think if I ever went on a fabric "diet" like so many bloggers did, I could constrain myself to just DS Quilts fabrics and never lack for fabric for the rest of my life. You can do so much with her prints. This quilt is gorgeous...I like the design of negative space and more concentrated crosses at the bottom. I made my dad a quilt from PB & J last year when he went into the hospital and it's another line that most of the fabrics are appropriate for men. I just left out the alphabet and florals and he liked it just fine:)

  7. I love how the pluses cascade down and join together. Great colours for a man, I agree. Is your Dad back to fitness now and back at work?

  10. What a great quilt! The layout of the crosses is lovely as is the quilting and it's nice to see a back that complements the front.

  11. Hi Megan,
I really love the modern simplicity of your quilt and would love to link to it on my blog. If possible I would love to use a photo (with credit to you) and a link to direct readers to your website. I think it would be a really wonderful example to recommend to my readers if you approve.
    Thanks,
